Fatality in Tractor Collision on Highway C

One person was killed following a traffic accident which took place after a milk truck collided with the back of a tractor Monday evening at County Highway C and Smoky Hill Road in Marathon County.

Two individuals were transported to the hospital for treatment. A 38-year-old Auburndale man later died from his injuries.

Town of Green Valley (OnFocus) Shortly after 7:30 pm, Stratford Fire and EMS was called to a traffic accident at Hwy C and Smoky Hill Road in Marathon County in the Town of Green Valley.

At the time of the call, dispatch indicated that the driver of a fuel truck, which flipped over, was not located and fuel was leaking from the vehicle. Both west and eastbound lanes were blocked at the time of the call.

Stratford Fire Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to the accident. Enroute dispatch updated the call information that the vehicle’s product was not fuel but whey. (Whey is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained.)

Dispatch indicated that there was a fire on the scene, which was trying to be extinguished by those on the scene.

According to dispatch, the accident involved a tractor vs milk truck. A mutual aid request from Stratford, called for Mosinee and Marshfield to be dispatched to the incident at 7:41 pm. Marshfield was requested for ALS, Advance Life Support. In addition, a medical helicopter was requested. Life Link III was not able to respond. Request for air support was canceled by incident command.

Hwy C was closed due to the accident.

Two individuals were transported to Marshfield Medical Center.
