“Festival Foods is a great place for someone’s first job as we aim to teach these new associates a lot of new social skills, especially when it comes to connecting with our guests and fellow co-workers,” said Nic Lotzer, HR Manager. “We can also provide a great experience through learning new responsibilities in a variety of different jobs that may be available when they apply with us or even after they have been working with us.”

Festival offers many different types of roles throughout the store, which Lotzer said is a true benefit for anyone who wants to learn as much as possible throughout their time with Festival.

“We transfer associates throughout our store on a pretty frequent basis,” he said. “Our outstanding culture also fosters great collaboration between our leaders and each of their teams and team members.”

Young workers can experience various types of roles throughout the store, with various shift opportunities.

“Our most common roles for a younger associate are either cashier, bagger and cart runner,” said Lotzer. “Associates ages 16 and older are able to apply for stocking and counter positions in our fresh departments such as deli, meat and bakery departments. Stocking positions would be available in our Frozen/Dairy, Grocery, and Produce departments.”

Depending on what is available at the time of applying, workers can experience a wide variety of opportunities. Each role has a specific training program connected with it.

“Most of the training is completed on the job while some may be in a classroom type of setting,” said Lotzer. “Many department leaders participate in the training of new associates or have a designated trainer assist with the training and on-boarding of new associates. New associates will have the opportunity to ask as many questions as they have while they are learning the parts of their new role!”

Lotzer encourages any youth interested in entering the workforce for the first time to apply at Festival Foods.
