Nearly two months after a fire destroyed Wesley United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 2, the final standing tower at the historic church was laid to rest. Construction crews were on scene with equipment to carefully push the final pillar to the ground, as a small crowd of onlookers watched.
After completing the investigation into the fire, the State Fire Marshall and FBI determined that there was no criminal associations and the fire was accidental in origin, starting in the kitchen.
The Wesley United congregation continues to host services at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sundays at 9 a.m.
