Fire Crews Contain Grass Fire in Township of Richfield

TOWNSHIP OF RICHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – On Thursday, April 14 at at 5:30pm Richfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire out of control in the 7700 block of Richfield-Wood Rd.

Before crews arrived on scene, the fire spread to an old camper on the property. The grass fire was quickly put out and was contained to an acre in size. Crews had to open up the camper walls to extinguish the fire in the camper.

They also had to dispatch an ambulance for the property owner as he had fallen and hit his head trying to put the fire out. The property owner was checked out by EMS and refused transport.

Crews cleared the scene and were back in service at 6:47pm. Cause of fire was debris burning that spread to the adjacent grass. Reminder to everyone to not do ANY burning until we receive some precipitation.
