Structural Fire in Downtown Loyal leaves a Hole in Mainstreet
Loyal, WI (OnFocus) — On Thursday, September 12th, at approximately 8:00 PM, a structural fire broke out in the downtown area of Loyal, Wisconsin, sending smoke and flames towering over the 200 block of North Main Street. Eyewitnesses reported that the flames could be seen from several blocks away as fire crews raced to contain the blaze.
Multiple fire departments responded to the scene as part of a coordinated mutual aid call, including departments from Loyal, Spencer, Greenwood, Granton, Colby/Abbotsford, Owen-Withee, as well as local EMS services. The combined efforts of these departments worked through the night to bring the fire under control. At the time of publication, crews were still working to distinguish spot fires.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation, it has been confirmed that three buildings were a total loss. Nearby structures sustained heavy smoke damage, adding to the devastation in the downtown area.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries at this time. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
