Five Score in Doubie Figures in Mosinee’s Win over Merrill

Mosinee vs. Merrill  Won:  88-53

Mosinee took it to the road tonight to play Merrill in a non conference game.  Mosinee would come out on top with a 88-53 victory.   Mosinee and Merrill would trade some early buckets with Merrill being up early.  Mosinee would then go on a 32-0 run to push a strong lead against a very scrappy and tough Merrill team.  They would hit 5 threes in the first half and be led in scoring by most of the starters.  Cole Kowalski had 8 points, Keagen Jirschele would add 10, Garrett Shupe had 11, Treve Stoffel added 9, and Landen Thomer had 10 first half points.  The lead going into halftime was 54-21 Mosinee.  Out of half, Mosinee was able to continue to push the lead and provide opportunities for all the players to contribute.  The score would end up being 88-53 with Mosinee getting scoring from all players on the team.

Mosinee would have four players with 14 points and five players in double digits.  Mosinee would get 14 points from Keagan Jirschele along with 5 assists, 1 rebound and 3 steals while hitting one 3 and going 1 for 2 at the free throw line,  Garrett Shupe would add 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks while going 2 for 2 at the free throw line and hitting 4 threes, Treve Stoffel had a breakout game tonight with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 block while hitting 1 three and 1 free throw, Landen Thomer would add 14 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block, Cole Kowalski added 13 points while getting 2 assists, and 2 rebounds, Mitchell Michlig added a career high 9 points along with grabbing 3 rebounds, and 1 steal.  The scoring was rounded out with Andrew Carlson, Carson Balgord, Gavin Chmiel, David Haskin, and Trent Gorski adding 2 points each respectively.    This was a team that had contributions from all players tonight with scoring, rebounding, steals, assists and just gritty play.  Merrill was a tough opponent and will challenge many teams this season.  Mosinee is looking forward to playing conference rival Medford next Friday at 7:00 in Mosinee for parents night.  Hope to bring a large crowd for a great game.
