Football Playoff Preview: Marshfield Tigers
The fifth ranked Marshfield Tigers travel to Holmen tonight to take on the fourth ranked Vikings.
Marshfield is on a three game winning streak that has seen them give up a total of just six points defensively.
The Tigers defense will be in for a tough test as they try and stop the high scoring Holmen offense.
The Vikings currently average just over 39 points per game. They have scored 44 or more points each of their last three games.
Holmen has yet to lose at home this season which is generally a concern for any team coming there. However, the Tigers actually are a better team on the road. They are 4-1 this season when they are the visitor.
The winner of this matchup will go on to face the winner of the Menomonie vs. La Crosse Central game.
Football Playoff Preview: Spencer/Columbus Rockets
The Rockets will play host to the Oconto Blue Devils to start the playoffs.
Spencer/Columbus is the number three seed and is in the same grouping as the Stratford Tigers.
They are currently ranked 29th in the state with an 8-1 record. They are hovering in the 45 points per game range on the season. Their only loss this year was to Stanley-Boyd, which is the number one seed in their group.
Oconto is 7-2 this season. They are ranked 111th in the state. Their defense is their strong suit as they have allowed 10 or less points in five different games. However, they have not faced an offense like the Rockets.
The winner of this game will go on to face the winner of the Colby vs. Amherst matchup.
Football Playoff Preview: Stratford Tigers
The fifth ranked Stratford Tigers head to Bonduel to face the fourth ranked Bears.
This matchup is going to be one of many good ones in a stacked Division 5 bracket. The Tigers are 6-2 on the season and ranked 26th in the state. Their only two losses have been against two of the top-15 teams in the state.
On the other side, Bonduel, is 8-1 for the year. Their only loss came to Amherst, who is also in this quadrant of the bracket.
The Tigers have only allowed three teams this season to score double digits in a game. They will have to rely heavily on their defense as they try to stop Bonduel. The Bears are averaging 45 points per game.
The winner of this game will move on to face the winner of the Stanley-Boyd vs. Wittenberg-Birnamwood game.
