Annual Golf Event to be Held September 5
Every year for the last ten years, the Fore Bill golf outing was held. Pat Allen founded the golf outing in 2008 as a memorial to her husband, Bill Allen, who died in 2007 after losing a battle with cancer.
Mr. Allen served as a member of the Main Street Marshfield Board of Directors, was a MACCI Red Coat Ambassador; served on the Convention and Visitors Bureau; a member of Faith Lutheran Church and its choir, where he received the Ruth and David Award in 1989; he was a member of the Central Wisconsin State Fair Association; a member of the Elks Lodge 665 where he served as the Exalted Ruler in 1973, as well as a member of the Marshfield Eagles Club and a charter member of the United Way Marsh Society.
Mr. Allen was also involved in the National Farm Medicine Center “Auction of Champions” since its inception. Bill was active in the Palm Sunday Concert for 54 years and served as leader of the city-wide event for 45 years. Bill was a valuable community volunteer who donated much of his time and talents to community organizations and mentored many people.
Proceeds from the golf outing sponsor scholarships at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. The scholarships are awarded to Marshfield students from Marshfield High School and Columbus High School who are interested in pursuing an education in healthcare or business. Students must be active community volunteers who demonstrate a love of music. $216,651.59 has been raised from these outings outings. During the first ten years of the Fore Bill Fund’s existence, 39 students have received scholarships totaling $50,500.
The Fore Bill Fund at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation is an endowed fund. What is an endowed fund? It is a fund that was set up for a certain purpose, that is invested in the stock market, managed by the Board of Trustees, so it will be here forever, helping bright, young, and caring Marshfield students follow their educational dreams.
