MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The City of Marshfield Mayoral race appears to have heated up as former Mayor Bob McManus announced on his Facebook page that he intends to run for mayor again in 2022.
McManus was removed from office in March of this year after it was found that he did not comply with an open records request and deleted text messages from his city-issued phone.
His reelection campaign will begin with the task of gaining 200 signatures (nominations) from Marshfield citizens for the position of mayor. Former alderman Ken Bargender and Evan Dayton are the only other citizens that have submitted paperwork to begin the process of running for Mayor.
Prospective candidates must have their 200 nominations in to the City Clerk’s office by January 4th at 5 p.m.
McManus announced his candidacy on his Facebook page saying he is looking forward to getting back to work.
“I really look forward to serving the people of Marshfield and I am so grateful for your support,” McManus stated.
The spring election will be held April 5th.
