Mother’s Day Recognition: Thanks for the Memories(Thanks Mom!)

May 12, 2024 is the recognized day to honor Mothers everywhere. Mothers make  so many impacts on  our lives, and deserve every bit of recognition they receive. One day a year, really? The impacts are made each and every day.

Want to know the impact a person has made in the world? Here is a simple test:

  • How often do you think of them?
  • What is their impact on your world, who you are, what you have accomplished?
  • How do mothers you know impact the world, change your life?

Things I Think I Know: The Braintrust Wraps up the 2023-24 Winter Sports Season

It’s that simple. It doesn’t mean going on a mission to make a difference, however. It comes just from being who you are, being yourself.  That is what a mom does.

To illustrate the impact a mom can make, The Braintrust shares a story about one such special person, my mom. Look for the similarities with moms you know and with your mom.

My mom’s impact test:

  • Think about her each and every day. CHECK
  • Love of reading? Passed on to her children, to grandchildren. CHECK
  • Skills with cooking, canning, baking, sewing, gardening, teaching? CHECK
  • Love of music, ability to read music, sing, play the piano… CHECK
  • Doing what it takes to get things done, even when exhaustion and tiredness sets in? CHECK
  • Love for education, encouraging to achieve? CHECK
  • Demonstrating what it means to be understanding, to show compassion and be empathetic? CHECK

Versatility is a valued trait, an underestimated character trait in today’s world.

“The more things you can do, and do well, the greater the difference you will make in the world.” – words of advice many parents have given their children, and for The Braintrust, a message heard repeatedly. Impactful? Heck yes. CHECK

Do moms deserve one day out of 365 to be recognized? With all due respect, no. Moms deserve every day of the year to be considered Mother’s Day, it’s that important. To mothers everywhere, thanks for making a difference. You deserve to feel appreciated.

For this writer, a special thanks goes out to one special mother.

Thanks Mom(the late Laurene Anne Keech)
