MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Kimberly Puzz, a devoted foster for local animal rescues, is shining a spotlight on Dax, a brave Great Dane mix who has overcome adversity and captured the hearts of many.
Dax, a one- to two-year-old Great Dane, endured a challenging start to life. Abandoned in an area notorious for discarded dogs, he was later taken to a distant shelter where his mistreatment persisted. Thankfully, Dax’s story took a turn for the better when he found his way into Puzz’s care. The traumatic events he experienced left him initially shy and withdrawn, but under Puzz’s nurturing guidance, he has made remarkable strides both mentally and physically.
Despite his progress, Dax faces a new hurdle – heart-worms. Heart-worms are a serious health threat that can lead to severe complications if left untreated. Puzz emphasizes the importance of preventative measures, stating, “The best way to treat heart-worms is to prevent them from getting started.”
She underscores the urgency of Dax’s situation, noting that without proper treatment, he is at risk of perishing from this condition. Many dogs facing similar circumstances unfortunately succumb to heart-worms if not treated promptly.
In a bid to give Dax a fighting chance at a healthy life, Puzz has launched a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising two thousand dollars. The campaign, which is already halfway to its target at the time of writing, aims to cover Dax’s essential medical expenses, including X-rays and medication.
“Dax has clearly shown he is a fighter and is not ready to give up,” she said. “The rescue has done great at supporting Dax and my family but they have many other pups to care for and also need treatment. Please consider donating for this special boy!”
Donations received through the campaign will support Dax’s comprehensive treatment plan, encompassing X-rays and diagnostics to assess the extent of his heart-worm condition. Funds will also be allocated for medications crucial for Dax’s recovery and eradication of the heart-worms.
