SPENCER, WI (OnFocus) – A fire at the home of a Spencer family took not only a garage and home away from the family, but they lost a couple of family pets as well.

The 9-1-1 call came shortly after 2:30 p.m. and reported smoke coming from the home. Crews arrived on-scene and worked to extinguish the flames but they could not save the pets that were inside the residence.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Kathryn Green and her family during this difficult time. On Tuesday, Feb. 15, the Spencer Boys’ Basketball team will be taking on Neillsville at Spencer High School.

Instead of taking admissions to enter the contest, Spencer will be accepting monetary donations to help offset the financial burden that this tragedy has levied against the Green Family. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and money from concessions sales will go to the family as well.

Decal to be sold at Weiler’s stores helping to locate pets in the event of an emergency.

Collaborating in the response to the fire were: the Chili Fremont Volunteer Fire Department, Loyal Fire Department, McMillan Fire Department, Marathon Sheriff’s Department, Town of Lincoln Fire Department, Marshfield Fire Department, Stratford Fire Department, Hewitt Fire Department and Central Fire Department.

Premier Printing and Weiler Convenience Stores are teaming up to offer pet emergency decals when you donate $5 to the Green Family. The decal is a vinyl sticker that homeowners can stick to a window of their home and will help emergency personnel identify and locate any pets that are in the house. Stop by any Weiler’s location on or after Monday, Feb. 14 to make a donation and receive a decal.
