As we head into Week 7 of the WIAA Football Season it is time to take a look at the Football Playoff situation with three weeks left in the season. We will break these down conference by conference starting with the Great Northern Conference.

Likely
Lakeland (3-4, 3-2 GNC) Lakeland kept the winning streak going and are playoff eligible, they can secure a spot this week with a win in Hayward.
Merrill (4-3, 3-2 GNC) Merrill did what they needed to do to secure a playoff spot with a win over Hayward making them playoff eligible, a win next week in Rhinelander would secure them a spot.
Work to do
Ashland (1-6, 1-4 GNC) The loss to Lakeland doesn’t remove them from playoff contention but it does mean they will need to win out. They go to Antigo this week before hosting Hayward in Week 9.
Unlikely
Antigo (2-5, 1-4 GNC) Antigo is not eliminated from playoff contention this week but needs to win out, a win over Ashland this Friday would set up a must-win against current conference leader Medford.
Rhinelander (2-5, 1-4 GNC) Rhinelander also is not eliminated from playoff contention but must win beat two playoff hopefuls the next two weeks at home vs Merrill and on the road at Lakeland.
Hayward (1-6, 1-4 GNC) Hayward joins the group down here after falling to Merrill on Saturday. While not eliminated they need a win over Lakeland this week to possibly set up a “win and you’re in” game with Ashland in Week 9
