WASHINGTON, D.C. – De’Vondre Campbell has been named the Week 16 NFLPA Community MVP after he served as Santa Claus for 25 families in need by donating $50,000 in gifts to fulfill their holiday wish lists.
“My family and my foundation are grateful to be able to give back and provide a holiday season for families in need,” Campbell said.
For the fourth year in a row, the De’Vondre Campbell Family Youth Foundation held its Adopt-A-Family program. As its largest initiative to date, Campbell’s non-profit adopted 25 families in his team city of Green Bay and across Minnesota, where he lives during the offseason and played college football. This holiday season, the Green Bay Packers linebacker focused his charitable outreach on single-parent households, foster care families and those facing hardship, fulfilling each of their entire Christmas wish lists.
Campbell went door-to-door delivering many of the presents, including a new car, washer and dryer set, appliances, toys and essential items. In total, the foundation provided more than $50,000 in support for the families, who were identified in partnership with a Minnesota foster care program and the Boys and Girls Club in Green Bay. After making their wishes come true, the All-Pro defender hosted all of the families for a holiday party.
“It’s not just for the kids; it’s for the parents and their guardians,” Campbell said. “If we can help in this small way to relieve stress, help with a hardship and change a life, we are blessed to do it.”
Since signing with Green Bay in 2021, Campbell has been especially active in his new community while still giving back to his hometown. For Thanksgiving, he and his foundation teamed up with a local grocery store to distribute 100 turkeys to those in need at Paul’s Pantry. Then on December 5, in collaboration with Kids In Need Foundation, Campbell distributed school supplies at Howe Elementary in Green Bay and took time to speak to the students about the importance of education. This coming summer, the seven-year veteran will once again host his annual youth football camp, which has become a staple in his native city of Fort Myers, Florida.
In honor of Campbell being named this week’s Community MVP, the NFLPA will make a $10,000 contribution to his charity or foundation of choice. Campbell will also take part in a virtual or in-person visit to a school or children’s hospital. Along with the other 2022 Community MVPs, he will also become eligible for this year’s Alan Page Community Award, which is the highest honor that the NFLPA can bestow upon a player.
