Project Secures Permits

Wisconsin Rapids, WI (OnFocus) An aluminum plant planned for Wisconsin Rapids continues to move forward after securing the necessary permits.

“All approvals from state and local agencies have been secured and the necessary permits have been issued to begin construction,” said Mayor Zach Vruwink.

Matalco, Inc announced in January that it had selected the city for a new location and would invest $80 million to construct a manufacturing facility in the Rapids East Commerce Center. The 110,000 square foot plant will employ 80 permanent, full-time workers and produce 230 million pounds of high-quality aluminum billet. The company has four plants located in Ontario, Indiana, and Ohio.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for October 1, 2019 at noon, at 4800 Commerce Drive, Wisconsin Rapids.
