Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Marshfield residents can grow their own fresh produce at local Growing Together Community Gardens, which are returning for an eleventh year.
There are approximately 80 raised beds at three garden sites located at First Presbyterian Church (200 S. Lincoln Ave.), Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (502 W. McMillan) and Church of Christ (1413 S. Felker Avenue).
“Full sunshine, fresh compost and rain barrels to capture water make gardening possible and productive with online instruction by master gardeners in basic gardening techniques, square foot gardening for intensive, vertical vegetable production, composting and other topics,” a release stated.
Garden beds are reservable on a first come, first serve basis at $20 each by contacting the three site coordinators. Precautions are being put in place due to the coronavirus.
“Due to the CDC guidelines, gardeners will be assigned even or odd numbered beds and will be asked to tend their plots on even or odd days only,” stated the release. “Gardeners may bring their own tools or use the community tools provided, with sanitizing instructions followed. We urge all gardeners to wear masks and to practice social distancing until such time as the restrictions are lifted.”
