Hahn and Koeller Score 16 Apiece as Marathon Picks Apart Abbotsford

Abbotsford (OnFocus) – A two point game at halftime between Marawood rivals Marathon and Abbotsford became a 54-35 lead for the Red Raiders midway through the second half, and Marathon outdueled Abbotsford for a 77-47 victory.

Marathon’s half court 1-3-1 defense forced some turnovers in the first half, but the Falcon stayed in the game with athletic plays. Cade Faber’s lay-in off a Hunter Soyk alley-oop with five minutes left in the first half pulled Abby to within three at 20-17. Faber’s steal and then thunderous dunk with 1:15 left pulled the Falcons to within two at 26-24 heading into halftime.

The Red Raiders used a 28-11 run to start the second half to pull away from Abbotsford.

Following the halftime break, baskets by Brandon Diedrich and Adam Diedrich knotted the game at 28.  Marathon then used a 28-11 run to pull away for the win.

Mike Hahn and Jaden Koeller led Marathon with 16 points apiece. Brock Warren added 11 for the Red Raiders.

Hahn pulled down 17 rebounds and also had 4 steals in the win.

Cade Faber led Abbotsford with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Faber had 8 assists and collected a season-high 6 blocks.
