Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Hawkins Ash CPAs is kicking off their United Way campaign and showing support for the Green Bay Packers at the same time.
The Green Bay Packers face off against the Chicago Bears at 7:20 tonight in the league’s 100th season. To mark the occasion, the office showed up in Packers gear on Thursday.
“We wanted to do something fun to get the staff involved, so we said for $1, wear your preferred sports apparel,” said Matt Eckelberg, CPA, and Partner. “We met with United Way yesterday and we just thought this would be a great way, given the timing, to throw a little excitement into the kickoff campaign.”
While the office doesn’t have a specific goal for the campaign, Hawkins Ash employees will be volunteering once a month to package food for the Nutrition on Weekends program, which provides kids with nutritious snacks outside of school to combat child hunger. The office also helps deliver meals to area schools and holds its own food drive for the program.
“United Way as a whole does so many wonderful things in town, but the one thing we gravitated to in the last couple years has been the NOW program,” Eckelberg said.
As a lifelong Packers fan who grew up with a passionate football family, he follows the team each week and will hope for the best tonight.
“If the Bears win, we’ll have to dry our tears and go onto next week,” he said.
