High Speed Chase Across Wood County Results in Drug Bust

Marshfield Police:

On 01/07/19 at 3:33 pm, a Marshfield Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the south side of Marshfield.

The vehicle accelerated and led the Marshfield Police Department and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department on an extensive pursuit through Wood County which ended outside of the Lindsey area and into Clark County. The driver of the vehicle was Christopher J. Gaffney (of rural Marshfield) and the passenger was Josie R. Lutz (Marshfield).

Officers recovered a large quantity of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia from the vehicle. Over 33 grams of methamphetamine was seized. Both were taken to the Wood County Jail on warrants from the Department of Corrections.

While both enjoy the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law, the following charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office: Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of THC, Possession of Methamphetamine Paraphernalia, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gaffney is also being charged with Knowingly Fleeing An Officer.
