MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – In October 2022, Heather Widmann, sister, daughter, wife, and most importantly mother of two beautiful little girls was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, Bile Duct and Liver Cancer.

“It’s hard to imagine the words you have cancer, but because of the location and severity of the cancer once diagnosed it has made Heather very sick,” said event coordinator Becky Gorst. “She is unable to work and it took over two months to determine a treatment plan because the doctors had to find a way to get her healthy enough to begin treatment. Because the liver is the body’s filter, putting chemotherapy into a body that can’t filter the toxins is deadly.”

Due to the rarity and severity of the cancer Heather’s treatment will be provided primarily at Mayo Health Systems. At this time surgical resection is not an option so Heather will begin chemotherapy treatment in the coming weeks. From there we hope for other treatments to come along. New medical breakthroughs are happening every day and Heather’s goal is to keep fighting and spending time with her family until one is available for her cancer.

“As family and friends of Heather, we felt compelled to help,” said Gorst. “In situations like this we all want to do something when we can’t just make her better.”

A “Hope For Heather Benefit” will take place on February 11th at Bakerville Bar from 11 to 10:30. During this event, there will have a number of raffles, music, food, and games to win prizes.
