MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – At Tuesday’s meeting of the City of Marshfield Common Council, Brian Hoerneman, Interim President, MCHS, Inc. announced that the Hope Lodge has been gifted back to the Health System and will once again serve the community.

“The Hope Lodge is coming back to the Health System,” said Brian Hoerneman, Interim President, MCHS, Inc. “We are currently undergoing a facility assessment, determining what needs to be done to bring it up to use. The space will be used by cancer patients and their families in the future.”

Since the American Cancer Society closed the facility in spring 2020, the Health System has been in contact with the ACS. The building was originally built in 2003 with philanthropic support from generous community members. It provided cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay while undergoing treatment.

Cattails Cottage, which was established after the Hope Lodge closed, will also continue to help patients.

More details are expected in the coming months.
