Nomination Papers Due for Nonpartisan Offices in the City of Marshfield
MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Are you passionate about serving your community? The City of Marshfield is now accepting nomination papers for individuals interested in running for Mayor or Alderperson in upcoming elections. The deadline to submit completed paperwork is 5:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday in January, and all documents must be filed with the City Clerk.
Offices Open for Election
- Mayor: A two-year term, elected in odd-numbered years.
- Alderperson: A two-year term. Odd-numbered districts elect Alderpersons in even-numbered years, while even-numbered districts elect in odd-numbered years.
For the 2025 election, Alderperson seats in Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 are up for election.
Qualifications for Candidacy
To run for office, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Not have been convicted of a felony unless pardoned.
- Reside in the district of the office being sought.
Filing Requirements
Candidates must complete the following steps to appear on the ballot:
- File a Campaign Registration Statement (CF-1)
Candidates may not fundraise or incur expenses until this form is filed. - Submit a Declaration of Candidacy (EL-162)
This form must be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday in January. - Complete Nomination Papers (EL-169)
Candidates may begin collecting signatures on or after December 1. Completed nomination papers, including the required number of valid signatures, must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday in January.
The City Clerk will review all submissions to ensure compliance with election requirements. In cases where more than two candidates run for an office, a primary election will be held. Full details available on the City website.
