Protest in Downtown attracts Hundreds

Marshfield (OnFocus) – Protesters walked throughout Downtown Marshfield Wednesday evening in a peaceful protest following the death of George Floyd, a black man killed in Minneapolis after a white officer with Minneapolis Police Department pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes while he was handcuffed on the ground.

The protest in Marshfield started at 4 pm at the corner of 4th and Central Ave. The group grew in numbers as the protesters walked the streets. At one time, the line stretched across three city blocks.

Protesters had homemade signs and chanted “I can’t breathe” as they walked along the sidewalks.

Officers of the Marshfield Police Department peacefully conversed with protesters during the gathering.

Another protest is planned for today.
