Pittsville (OnFocus) – Thomas Hunt did the opposing team no favors on Thursday, picking up four hits over four at bats and leading Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity to a 7-1 win over Pittsville. Hunt doubled in the first, doubled in the third, singled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.
Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity tallied three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by singles by Connor Newby and Ty Huntington.
Hunt led the Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher allowed four hits and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Dan Baumgartner threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Wyatt Grimm took the loss for Pittsville. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out nine.
Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity collected 12 hits on the day. Hunt, Tanner Lamb, and Newby each had multiple hits for Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity. Hunt went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Almond-Bancroft Eagles Varsity in hits.
Noah Grimm led Pittsville with two hits in three at bats. Pittsville was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Cameron Dammann made the most plays with 11.
