Winneconne made a statement by beating Iola-Scandinavia, 17-1, in a non-conference game on Friday, April 4. The game was stopped after three innings. The Thunderbirds did have several starters missing due to spring break. The loss dropped the T-Birds record to 1-1 and the Wolves improved to 1-1.
After Iola-Scandinavia took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Winneconne scored 17 unanswered runs on 15 hits while the Thunderbirds committed seven errors. Brylee Jueds had the lone hit for the T-Birds, a double in the first inning.
Pitcher Julie Youngbauer allowed only one hit and had no walks while striking out seven batters for the Wolves. Iola-Scandinavia pitcher Rayanne Clendenning pitched the three innings. She allowed three walks and had no strikeouts.
