Black River Falls (OnFocus) – On Friday, July 24, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an assault at East Arbutus Campground. Deputies arrived and found that an intoxicated male subject had attempted to assault a juvenile male while in a public restroom. The juvenile was uninjured due to his family and other campers responding quickly to the area. The male, Algernon Bow from Black River Falls, WI was arrested and remains in the Jackson County Jail. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office are still actively investigating the incident.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has noticed the increased activity in county parks and campgrounds this summer. The Sheriff’s Office has officers dedicated to our county parks but reminds all visitors to stay vigilant and monitor young children. These public parks offer relaxation and a great getaway during the summer heat but the increased crowds also increase potential dangers. Please take the time to talk with your children about dangers, strangers and water safety so that everyone can enjoy what our great community has to offer during the remaining days of summer.

Please report any suspicious activity to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 715-284-9009.
