Maxson is Newest Police Officer at Department

Police Officer Jacob Maxson is the newest addition to Marshfield Police Department, and started his first shift today, September 4.

Maxson is a Tomahawk native who holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement and graduated from the Law Enforcement Recruit Academy from Nicolet Technical College, and also holds a Technical Diploma in Criminal Justice-Corrections Specialist. He is also certified in Heartsaver CPR/Basic First Aid and FEMA ICS 100 training.

He has served as a former Wausau Emergency Police volunteer and most recently worked as a Dispatcher/CSO for the Tomahawk Police Department.

Maxson’s passion for police work was inspired by a former football coach who was a detective.

“He was really encouraging, very open to talking about his career. Listening to him, I thought that it was something I would really want to get into,” he said.

After volunteering as an auxiliary officer for Wausau Emergency Police at various events, Maxson decided to go pro and is excited to continue his professional career in Marshfield.

“I like just getting out in the public and talking to people. You get to build a rapport with people,” he said, adding that he has enjoyed getting to know the Marshfield community during ride-alongs and knew it was the right fit for him.

Maxson is looking forward to learning his new role, meeting more people, and becoming more involved in the community.

“I want to make sure I learn and that I’m safe out there,” he said. “I want to be involved in the community – going out and watching football games, joining basketball leagues, that kind of thing.”

Maxson will be sworn in on September 12 at 4:00pm at the PD.
