Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Knights of Columbus Hall is in the process of being torn down to make way for a new Hampton Inn & Suites at 400 W. Upham St.
The process is expected to take several weeks with the foundation to be put in place yet this winter dependent on weather, according to Josh Miller, Director of Development Services, City of Marshfield. The hotel will then be connected to utilities in the spring.
The sale of the former KC Hall was finalized in June to Growth Motels-Oshkosh, LLC under developer Dave Wogernese. Previously Wogernese had attempted to secure city incentives as Prairie Lodging, LLC through the creation of a TIF district, which the Common Council declined in January.
A follow-up request to reconsider the TIF district without special assessments was also voted down. After the decision, the project was temporarily abandoned.
The Plan Commission reviewed and approved the final landscape plan for the 3.5 acre property at its Nov. 19 meeting. Shrubbery for screening purposes will be placed along Leonhard Street to provide a privacy barrier between south side parking and residential properties.
