MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Wood County’s “Keep the Forest Green” campaign concluded this year with 10 forest fires reported. This program runs each year from late March until the end of May and aims to educate the community on the importance of safe burn practices.
There have been 106 fires since the program began in 2014, with the primary cause being debris burning each year.
“This continues to highlight the need for awareness of safe burning conditions and practices,” shared Marshfield Fire & Rescue. “Thank you all very much for your efforts to prevent fires. Your efforts are very much appreciated!!”
