Lakeland Boys Soccer Holds off Northland Pines, 2-1

The game started with Lakeland possessing and passing it around the back 4 looking for the long ball attack.  Pines remained patience and waited for the error.  Waiting for an attack and a couple opportunities came up but we’re foiled and Mason Jahnke could not convert.  He just isn’t 100% healthy and didn’t have the speed today.  Pines struck first when Jackson Olejniczak passed to Anthony Gaetano for his first varsity goal and first assist for Jackson.  Pines held the lead for the next 11 minutes and went into half with the lead.  I told the boys not to give up the mental errors and they can steal a game from Lakeland.  The lead ended in the 55 minute when a failed cleared ball found a Lakeland foot tying the game.

Great Northern Conference Soccer Standings

16 minutes later two boys failed to step on a cleared ball and it was sent in the box finding their false 9 and Lakeland took the lead.  Unfortunately with the Injuries we could not come back and mount any offense.  The unconverted early opportunities came back to haunt us. It was a great effort and the boys worked hard.
