OnFocus – Local businesses are celebrating the upcoming NFC Championship game by dressing in their best green and gold apparel. Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) and Marshfield Insurance are both prepared to cheer on the Green Bay Packers as they face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
“At the credit union, we love to celebrate the Green Bay Packers,” said Carol Adler, MMCCU President. “It’s a fun opportunity to show off our team spirit, and especially awesome this year as they are so close to being a Super Bowl competitor.”
Marshfield Insurance has also had a longstanding casual day to showcase their team spirit explains Marshfield Insurance CEO Nick Arnoldy.
“It’s been something we’ve been doing every Friday since 2010,” Arnoldy said. “Obviously we’re all Packer fans here with the exception of one or two people. It’s just a fun thing to do. We wear jeans and donate to the United Way if you wear the jeans with [Packer apparel].”
If employees would like to wear jeans on that Friday, they contribute a dollar to the United Way. Along with just having fun with the Friday dress code, the company has a splash of superstition behind their attire.
“We feel it brings good luck to the team, take last week for instance,” Arnoldy said. “As they say, ‘It’s not dumb if it works.’ Hopefully, with our superstition, we can take them to the Super Bowl and bring home another Lombardi Trophy.”
Local grocer Festival Foods also dresses up for game day, so look for their fan attire on Sunday. We’d love for you to share your business’ team spirit in the comments on Facebook!
The game will be the first time since the 2007-08 season that the Packers have hosted the NFC Championship game. Despite only having a limited number of fans at Lambeau Field on Sunday, Packer pride is still displayed all across Wisconsin.
Kickoff is a 2:05pm CST Sunday.
