STRATFORD, WI (OnFocus) – Wednesday night, December 20 at 8:21pm, Stratford Area Fire Department (SAFD) responded to a structure fire on Varsity St in the Village of Stratford.
Engine 1 was on scene at 8:24pm and found heavy fire coming out of the attic of a large 3 story home. The crew from E1 made a quick interior attack and was able to gain access to the attic above the 3rd floor quickly and knock down the fire and keep the damage minimal.
The fire we deemed under control at 8:50 and salvage and overall was started.
“We want to thank our mutual aid partners from McMillan FD, Edgar FD, and Hewitt Area FD along with the Wood County Central RIT team and the Red Cross for your assistance last night. The last units left the scene at 11:30, thanks again to everyone who responded and helped in any way,” they posted on social media.
Unfortunately the structure fire meant the first red bulb was added to the wreath this season in the Keep The Wreath Green campaign.
“Lets keep it the only one this year. Have a Merry Christmas!!” they wrote.
