Local Girl Scouts will host a Candlelight Vigil and Community Service Project in support of Girl Scout Troop 3055 at Columbia Park Bandshell (201 W Arnold St, Marshfield) on Sunday, November 11th at 3:00pm.
On November 3, three girls and one adult from Troop 3055 in Chippewa Falls were struck and killed while participating in a service project along the highway.
Troops nationwide are scheduled to hold vigils this weekend. Organizer Heather Sommers, Marshfield Area Service Manager for Girl Scouts and leader of Troop 6323, said that Troop 3055 was also part of the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes.
Join local troops in paying tribute to the lives lost and showing support for Troop 3055 and their families on Sunday. Cards will be collected and sent. In keeping with the Girl Scout tradition of community service, they will be collecting non-perishable food and winter clothing items to be donated to Soup or Socks.
Coinciding with Veterans Day on Sunday, there will be a flag ceremony, candle lighting, and prayer. They will also discuss the importance of being a Girl Scout and its mission to serve.
Whether a Scout or not, the event is open and welcome to everyone. “Everyone in the community is certainly welcome to participate and come and show support,” said Sommers.
