VESPER, WI (OnFocus) – Earlier this week, Vesper Volunteer Fire Department hosted a live burn training with Arpin, Pittsville, Rudolph, Sherry, City Point, Lincoln and Hewitt fire departments.
Crews participated in live fire training evolutions, which focused on firefighters advancing their skills in fire attack, company officer duties, and Incident Command. Crews consisted of a fire officer leading a crew of two newer firefighters into a single family dwelling with live fire.
At the same time the role of incident command was performed by fire officers with minimal experience in the Command role to better prepare if the arises. A total of eight evolutions were conducted, allowing 32 firefighters the opportunity to practice and learn.
A support staff of Chiefs, Captains, and Fire Instructors overseeing all evolutions provided participants with guidance and knowledge to better the training scenarios. Other members supporting the training found it beneficial in their roles of providing Rehab for all members on site.
“It can’t be stressed enough about the importance of a well organized rehab station at any emergency training and incident,” Vesper said in a statement.
