MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Recent Marshfield High School graduate Logan Metcalfe has successfully completed his Eagle Scout project, which aims to provide a safe haven for bees through the construction of bee houses. The project, which took more than a year to accomplish, highlights Metcalfe’s commitment to environmental conservation and his desire to make a positive impact on the community.

Metcalfe’s journey in the Scouts began in the first grade. Throughout his scouting experience, he has developed a profound appreciation for nature and a keen sense of responsibility towards protecting it. Inspired by the serious decline in the global bee population and their crucial role to worldwide ecosystems, Metcalfe resolved to take action and lend a helping hand to these vital pollinators.

After extensive research, Metcalfe discovered various designs for bee houses on the internet. Recognizing the significance of providing bees with a suitable habitat to establish hives, he committed himself to building these bee houses as a means of offering a fresh start to struggling colonies.

“It has been a long time coming, and I’ve learned so much on this journey,” said Metcalfe. “My favorite part of the project was seeing all the hard work pay off when I saw the finished product. I’m thankful for all the help I got from friends and family helping throughout the whole project.”

The completion of this project signifies a significant milestone in Metcalfe’s scouting journey, reflecting the invaluable life skills he has acquired along the way. Through his Eagle Scout project, he not only demonstrates his commitment to environmental conservation but also underscores the value of teamwork, perseverance, and community engagement.

Metcalfe encourages individuals of all ages to consider joining the Scouts and exploring the boundless opportunities it offers.

“I personally have made so many life-long friends through scouting,” he said. “If someone is any bit interested in scouting I highly encourage giving it a shot, and you will learn so many life skills from physical skill to social and teamwork skills.”
