After finishing at the bottom of the conference last season, second year volleyball head coach, Keli Geiger, looks to instill a winning mentality back into the team.

“Being at the bottom (of the conference) is not an option for us. I think the girls have something to prove and I hope we can do it,” Geiger said.

Geiger plans to install a new offense to help improve the team. “It will allow for our better passers to be involved in every serve receive,” Geiger said. “It all starts with the pass.”

The new offense will feature positions changes throughout the team. Geiger has moved the starting setter to the hitter position.

“We’re definitely a selfless team, we’ll do what it takes to better the team.”
Throughout the offseason, the team has put in hard work and developed chemistry which has impressed Geiger.

“I think I have a great group of girls,” Geiger said. “I definitely have a core group of athletes which is ideal for a coach.”

A bad taste was left in the mouths of those on the 2017 Loyal volleyball team after a disappointing season, however, the team is now looking for redemption. “Last season, we don’t like talking about it, but we did really bad and we’re not proud of it,” senior Hannah Peroshek said.

“We’d like to come more together as a team, we already are, and definitely get a lot of wins under our belt.”

Peroshek will likely be making a position switch to libero this Fall as the team will be transitioning to a new offense.

Even through changes, Peroshek believes the team chemistry will help overcome any adversity. “We’re all really close as a team, we are a family basically,” Peroshek said.
