Mailboxes, Other Items Destroyed by Pumpkin Throwers Over Weekend

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Police Department is investigating a string of vandalisms in the Marshfield area.

On Sunday, Oct. 24, police were notified of nine different instances where residents, businesses and even the Marshfield Street Department had experienced damage related to thrown pumpkins. The vandals destroyed mailboxes and a street barricade with most of the damage being reported in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The reports are included below:

Cypress and West 5th Street – Officers located a broken street barricade at the above intersection. The damage was a result of a pumpkin striking it. There are currently no suspects.

North Ridge Church – Sunday at 2:10 in the morning, officers observed a damaged mailbox at a local church. Pumpkin remnants were also found in the area. No suspects at this time.

Galvin Ave. – Officers observed a damage mailbox at the above address. Pumpkin remnants were also found in the area. No suspects at this time.

West 14th Street – Officers observed a damaged mailbox at the above address. Pumpkin remnants were also found in the area. No suspects at this time.

South Lincoln Ave. – The listed address had their mailbox dented/smashed by a pumpkin being thrown into it from a moving vehicle.

Marshfield Eagles Club – The manager of the listed business called to report damage to their mailbox. The damage consisted of the mailbox being knocked off the post and dented by a pumpkin. Upon reviewing video surveillance a vehicle is seen driving past at a high rate of speed as the mailbox is damaged.

Melody Gardens – While entering the Melody Gardens parking lot an officer observed the businesses mailbox to be tipped over and damaged. Upon further inspection the mailbox was observed to be struck by a pumpkin. Contact was later made with the owner who is attempting to obtain video and images of the truck that threw the pumpkins. Adler Road – Officers located a broken mailbox at the above address. The mailbox was reattached but suffered several cracks. The damage was caused by a pumpkin striking it. There are no suspects currently.

East McMillan Street – A 38-year-old Marshfield woman reported her mailbox had been broken. She described the suspect vehicle as a loud and obnoxious truck. The woman indicated the truck had come from the Wal-Mart area. There were pumpkin remnants in the area. Investigation to continue.
