Mark Davis Named Event Coordinator for Wenzel Family Plaza
Work is still underway on Marshfield’s new Wenzel Family Plaza, and today the Economic Development Board announced Mark Davis as the plaza’s new Event Coordinator. A special Main Street Marshfield committee selected Davis after a months-long search process.
The City’s Economic Development Board (EDB), Marshfield Convention and Visitor Bureau (CVB), and Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department each previously discussed committing $50,000 for the programming and the hiring of a dedicated staff member to oversee the operation of Wenzel Family Plaza.
Davis graduates this month from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with a major in Recreation Management with a Tourism emphasis, and currently works as an intern at Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He has previous experience with the Chamber of Commerce in Lancaster, WI and the Sparta Parks & Recreation department.
As event coordinator, Davis will be responsible with overseeing the plaza’s programming and entertainment. His job duties will include working collaboratively with local event organizers, organizations, and area businesses to identify opportunities to draw people downtown and to Wenzel Family Plaza, plan and facilitate events in the plaza, secure sponsorships of events and programs, and promote the value and missions of Main Street Marshfield and the CVB. He begins his new role on May 15.
The plaza, which is being constructed by Boson Construction on the former Marshfield News-Herald site in the 200 block, is scheduled to open in July, during Farm Technology Days. The plaza is being funded through a combination of private donations (including naming rights from the Wenzel family) and City funds. The mission of the Wenzel Family Plaza is to connect the community through events and activities in a vibrant downtown plaza.
No comment from Main Street at the time of publication.
