Man Arrested After Standoff With Police

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – According to the Marshfield Police Department, a 28-year-old Marshfield man was arrested after a short standoff with police on Thursday morning.

Marshfield Police Department officers were called to the Walmart parking lot at 10:57 a.m. in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Upon arrival, police located the suspect inside of a semi in the parking lot. Officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and the driver refused and displayed a knife to the officers.

This initiated negotiations with the driver as police attempted to get him to surrender. After a short time, the man threw his knives out of the window of the vehicle and surrendered to police at 12:09 p.m.

The man was transported to Marathon County Jail and is being charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Failure to Comply with Officer’s Attempt to Take into Custody.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, S.W.A.T. team, Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department, Spencer Police Department, State Patrol and Wood County Dispatch all assisted in the arrest.
