TOWNSHIP OF SENECA, WI (OnFocus) – On June 16, 2023 at 10:43 A.M. the Wood County Sheriffs Department received a report of a hit and run accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian with injuries in the 4100 block of George Rd, township of Seneca. Sheriffs Department personnel discovered that an adult female was walking with a small child on the shoulder of the road, when the adult female was struck from behind and suffered injuries.
The child was not physically injured during the hit and run crash. The adult female victim, age 34 of Wisconsin Rapids, is currently in stable condition and being treated at the Marshfield Medical Center. On June 19, 2023 the Wood County Sheriff’s Department arrested Cody Provost who is a 30 year-old Wisconsin Rapids man in connection to the hit and run vehicle crash on June 16, 2023.
Provost admitted to investigators that he thought he hit a mail box and later found out he hit a person. Provost also described concealing the vehicle’s damaged parts as well as fixing the damage to the vehicle. At this time Provost is being held at the Wood County Jail on Charges of Hit and Run Causing Injury and Obstructing an Officer.
