TOWN OF WIEN, WI (OnFocus) – The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single-vehicle crash at approximately 7:04 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, near the intersection of County Highway N and Aspen Drive in the Town of Wien. As a result of the crash, a single male occupant was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On June 11, 2023, the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office that the 18-year-old man had died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 18-year-old man as Samuel Cruz Castro of Colby, WI.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Edger Police Department, Edger EMS, and the Marathon County Communications Center.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office wishes to express its condolences to the family of Mr. Cruz Castro. No further information will be released at this time.
