Fatal Crash in Town of Spencer Claims Life of Local Man
Spencer, WI – The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, September 23, 2024, as 27-year-old Anthony A. Peplinski of Spencer, Wisconsin.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:51 a.m. near the intersection of State Highway 13 and Merkel Road in the Town of Spencer. Emergency responders from multiple agencies arrived at the scene following the incident. Tragically, Peplinski was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marathon County Crash Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. No other injuries have been reported. The section of State Highway 13 between 26th Road and County Highway F was closed most of the day on Monday.
Agencies involved in the response include the Wisconsin State Patrol, Spencer Police Department, Spencer Fire/EMS, Marshfield Fire/EMS, Marshfield Police Department, and the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office.
No additional details have been released at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
