Marshfield (OnFocus) – A man is in custody after a search warrant was executed this morning near Lindsey, WI (southwest of Marshfield).
“We came up with information that led to a search warrant that we executed this morning in reference to Zach Vasa,” said Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker. “Since we started the search of this property, we did have a cadaver dog come up from the Madison area. That dog indicated on multiple areas within the residence and outbuildings here.”
“Right now, we do have one male subject in custody. He is not being cooperative, which is unfortunate for the family,” he added. “The family wants answers right now and it would be helpful if he were cooperative. He is in custody because of the current status of this investigation.”
Becker said the department is going to follow up on any evidence discovered and the state crime lab is assisting, however the public is still asked to come forward with any information.
“With the evidence that we’re collecting today, there are going to be charges forwarded. Potentially hiding a corpse, as well as drug charges,” said Becker, noting that although remains were found, there is not confirmation on who it is. However, based on the information they have received throughout the investigation, it is possible.
“Just because a cadaver dog indicated on parts of this property doesn’t mean it’s Vasa,” he said. “That’s why we are looking for cooperation from the person in custody.”
