Man Rescued After Being Pinned in Silo

TOWN OF BERGEN, WI (OnFocus) – On Friday, May 12, 2023, at 3:30 pm, SAFER District was called Mutual-aid to the Town of Bergen for an individual who was pinned inside a silo.

SAFER crews assessed the scene to determine the best way to extricate the victim as he was approximately 50 feet up in the silo. A plan was formulated to lower him utilizing confined space rescue and rope rescue techniques. Once put into action, the recovery was
completed swiftly and without incident.

“We would like to thank all the responders from the Mosinee Fire District and Marathon County Sheriffs Office who helped with this technical extrication,” said Eric Lang, Deputy Fire Chief SAFER.
