STRATFORD, WI (OnFocus) – Jared Carl was sentenced today in court to life in prison, with parole eligibility in 35 years. He was charged with 1st Degree Intentional Homicide (Felony A), to which he pleaded guilty in December.
He was also originally charged with taking and driving a vehicle without consent (Felony H), possession with intent (Felony I), and resisting or obstructing an officer (Misdemeanor A). These charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal, but were considered as part of his sentencing.
On December 29, 2020, at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Spencer Police Department responded to a call of a deceased male at the south end of Abe Lincoln Ave. just south of Swamp Road in the Township of Spencer. It was apparent the man had died from injuries sustained that day at an unknown location. (Original article here.) The body was later identified as that of Christian Schauer, 20.
