Marathon County Bomb Squad in Marshfield
Marshfield (OnFocus) Around 2 pm on Saturday, Marshfield Fire and Rescue and Marshfield Police Department responded to an apartment complex located near the area of Peach and E. Harrison.
At the time of the call, Marshfield Police Department closed down Peach Ave from Ives Ave to Becker Street.
OnFocus has learned that some residents in one apartment complex have been evacuated and are taking shelter in a near by location.
Marathon County Bomb Squad arrived around 3 pm. At that time Marshfield Police Department posted the following message on their Facebook page:
“Please avoid the area of Peach and E. Harrison until further notice. We are asking residents to remain away from this area at this time. Additional details will be made available when appropriate. Thank you.”
As of 4 pm, Marshfield PD, Marathon County Bomb Squad and Marshfield Fire and Rescue are actively on scene.
This is a developing story.
In a previous incident, on Thursday, December 3 at approximately 6:00pm, the Marshfield Police Department responded to the 800 block of E Harrison St after a family member found suspected explosive devices in the apartment of a 70-year-old Marshfield male.
The preliminary investigation indicated the presence of suspected pipe bombs.
Approximately one third of an apartment building was evacuated for all or part of the six-hour incident. The Marathon County Bomb Squad assisted with the safe removal of the suspected explosives. Supportive assistance was also provided by the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department and WE Energies.
There has been no official statement if these incidents are related.
