TOWN OF NORRIE, WI (OnFocus) – The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a three-month-old child that occurred on November 20, 2024, in the Town of Norrie. Through the ongoing investigation, a 27-year-old male has been arrested on a charge of 1st-Degree Reckless Homicide.
On November 20, 2024, at approximately 10:44 a.m., the Marathon County 911 Communications Center received a medical call for a three-month-old unresponsive child. Deputies and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene and transported the three-month-old child to a local hospital for medical treatment. Despite all medical efforts, the child was pronounced deceased on November 22, 2024.
The Investigations Bureau of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death was suspicious in nature and opened a criminal investigation. As a result of an ongoing investigation, a 27-year-old male has been arrested. On November 27, 2024, the Court held a probable cause hearing and set a $100,000 cash bond. An initial appearance is scheduled for February 20, 2025.
The identity of the victim is being withheld.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, Hatley EMS, Riverside EMS, and the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.
