TOWN OF RINGLE, WI (OnFocus) – The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has completed an
investigation into the reported mistreatment of a horse in the Town of Ringle. As a result of the investigation, it was found that there are no signs of neglect, and the horse is receiving proper and adequate medical attention.

Photos of the horse posted to social media show an injury to the horse’s rear-left leg that looks bloody in nature. The injury is consistent with a cut from barbed wire fencing, an injury common to animals within this type of setting.

Upon further examination from a local veterinarian, it was found that the salve being used to properly treat the injury is red in color. The veterinarian indicated that the wound is healing but will take time due to the horse being nearly 30 years old.

Additionally, the veterinarian stated that the owner who is known to take in rescue or injured horses is providing proper medical attention and will continue to administer the bandages and salve. The veterinarian has prescribed additional antibiotics and vvill follow-up in a few days to continue monitoring the injury.

No concerns for the horse’s welfare were substantiated through this investigation, and as a
result no criminal charges will be filed.
