Marathon Standout Student-Athlete Grant Warren, Pancakes or Waffles? An Inside Look

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?

Warren: Calculus and Physics, I like the challenge of applying math concepts to real life.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Warren: I don’t do a whole lot outside basketball and baseball, other than practicing and watching more basketball and baseball.

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Warren: Paul Fredrickson, he always knows how to lighten the mood with a quip or joke.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Warren:  I had a deep fried chicken heart in Advanced Biology class last year. It wasn’t terrible.

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Warren: I’m a fan of anything 80’s, especially Hall & Oates

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

Warren: I will be attending Michigan Tech University and majoring in either Biomedical Engineering or Chemical Engineering, and will also be on the men’s basketball team.

Warren: “A Head Above the Rest”

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

Warren: Basketball and Baseball

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Warren: Cody Radtke, because he can’t play Clash Royale on a deserted island so he wouldn’t be any fun.

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Warren:  Going to state in baseball as a freshman and basketball as a senior are probably the top 2, but also winning 3 straight conference championships in basketball as a sophomore, junior and senior.

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Warren:  I like the San Antonio Spurs and the UConn Huskies basketball teams because of how they are coached, and I am a fan of Luka Doncic because of how easy he makes the game look.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Warren: To be able to represent the community in a positive way in front of everyone that supports me and the team.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

Warren: When one day in basketball practice my senior year we had like 6 or 7 guys practice because of injury and sickness

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Marathon?

Warren: It teaches you life skills that you can use the rest of your life, and you are able to be a part of a team to achieve a common goal.

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Warren:  You should try to enjoy the time you have with the people you are with, because it goes by incredibly fast.

Warren: Pancakes
