MARATHON – Marathon plated four runs in both the first and sixth innings to hold off Auburndale 8-4 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Tuesday.
After the big first inning for the Raiders (4-2, 3-0 Marawood South), Auburndale chipped away to tie the game at 4-4 with two runs in the third, and single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings.
Marathon was able to regroup and put the game away with a four-run sixth.
Abby Koopman had two hits and Hailey Grimm drove in two runs for Auburndale (3-2, 1-1 Marawood South).
Auburndale hosts Marathon on Thursday.
